Apr 24 2010 - Rain Halts Action After Two Features at Roaring Knob

MARKLEYSBURG, PA (April 24, 2010) - The Rick Jones era at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex started with a short rain shower and ended with another on opening night. Ricky Meglaye of Youngwood captured the Brooks Auto Group FASTRAK Late Model feature and Todd Dennis was declared the winner of the Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature. The rest of the show was called due to persistent rain showers that came through. Features for the Jack’s Recycling Super Late Models, Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds and TC Race Car Parts Chargers will be made up over the next several weeks.

The track crew did a great job getting the track run in after light showers came through. The heats were run off in less than an hour and the Brooks Auto Group FASTRAK Late Model 20-lap feature event was set to go. Ricky Meglaye used his outside front row starting spot to grab the lead over pole sitter Derek Doll. Meglaye set the pace but was hounded by 2009 point champ Troy Shields the whole distance. Shields would settle for second over Dan Angelicchio, Kyle Thomas and Butch Lambert (from 13th ). John Over, Greg Tressler, Jason Fosnaught, Mike Lewis and Rick Strickler completed the top ten. Doll, Meglaye and Shields were the three heat winners for the 27 cars on hand.

The 15-lap Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature was next up. Charlie McClain led the first two laps before Bob Nelson took over on lap three. Nelson held on for three laps when seventh starting Todd Dennis powered his way into the lead with his patented outside charge. Dennis led until a caution on lap 11. Under yellow the sprinkle turned into a constant rain and the race was declared over giving Dennis his 20th career win in the division. The win tied him with John Redshaw as the all-time winner in the class. Taking heat wins were Joe Wrona and Dennis.

Next weeks show is a 5 division action show featuring the 1st Shoot-Out Roaring Knob vs Elkins for Jack’s Recycling Super Lates, Brooks Auto Group FASTRAK and Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds. The TC Race Car Parts Chargers and Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks will also be on the card. Pit Gates Open at 4:30PM with grandstand gates opening at 5PM. Hot Laps start at 6:15 with the first green flag at 7 sharp.

*KNOB KNOTES: 27 FASTRAK, 13 Super Late Models, 15 Street Stocks, 15 Chargers and 9 Modifieds were on hand for opening night… Ricky Meglaye’s win this seventh overall at the track just one behind Bob Arsenberger… Derek Doll and Mike Pegher, Jr. all had their night end with a crash in the FASTRAK feature. They were running 4th and 6th at the time.
