MARKLEYSBURG, PA (May 8, 2010) – If Promoter Rick Jones tells you he is going to try and get the show in, believe him. Just as hot laps ended Roaring Knob was hit by some light showers and after a 2 hour and 15 minute delay, the show went on. Sam Stile won the Bedford/Roaring Knob Shootout for the Jack’s Recycling Super Late Models sponsored by Krause Electric & Refrigeration. Other winners were Rick Meglaye (Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models), JE Stalder (Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds), Jim Bendishaw, Jr. (Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks) and Kyle Burkholder (TC Race Car Parts Chargers).

Uniontown’s Jim Bendishaw Jr. drove to victory in the 15-lap Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature for his first win of the season. Bendishaw took command at the drop of the green. Lap two saw Todd Dennis take second and begin to apply pressure for the lead. Bendishaw was not to be denied as he held off all advances from Dennis to take his 16th career victory at the track. Dennis, Bob Nelson, Jim Byers and John Redshaw claimed the top five. Tom Newman, Charlie McClain, Russell Baird Sr., Josh Bendishaw and Barry Faris were the top ten. Bendishaw and Redshaw won the two heat races.

JE Stalder made his first visit a good one by passing Deana Groves on lap 11 to grab his first-ever win at Roaring Knob in the Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds. Stalder, of Martins Ferry, OH beat out Groves, Louie Krushansky, Nolan Dalton, Nick Cramer, Bruce Dreistadt, Vic Vandergrift, Josh Cramer and Nathan Baker. Vandergrift won the lone heat.

The start of the 25-lap Jack’s Recycling Super Late Model feature had Keith Jackson taking the lead. Jackson led until lap eight when he and second place Jared Miley made contact and spun. Both drivers went to the rear handing the lead over to Charleroi’s Sam Stile. Stile then did all he could to hold off Steve Everhart and Doug Horton to earn the win in the Bedford/Knob Shootout. Miley raced back to finish fourth over Tyler Hershey, Chuck Clise, Butch McGill, Dane Laraway, Mel Minnick Jr. and John Garvin. Stile, Jackson and Miley grabbed the heat wins.

John Over out gunned Rick Meglaye at the drop of the green in the 20-lap Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Model feature. Over held Meglaye at bay until lap 6 when the Youngwood driver powered his way into the lead. Meglaye was unchallenged from there picking up his second win of the season. Shane Hitt came on in the final two laps to earn second ahead of Over, Shawn Jett, Mike Lewis, Dusty Hamrick, Butch Lambert, Rick Strickler, Troy Shields and Daniel Hill. Strickler, Hitt and Kyle Thomas won heats for the 29 car field. Hill was the winner of the B-Main.

Wrapping up the show was the 12-lap TC Race Car Parts Charger feature. Kyle Burkholder used his pole starting spot wisely jumping out to the lead at the start, and then holding off pressure from his older brother Kenny, to win just his second career feature. Behind the high flying Burkholder brothers were Bus Matthews, Marty Spade Jr., JT Baird, Jerry Walters Jr., CJ Nicola, Bennie Dennis, Andrew Vogel and Mark Sullivan. Heats were also won by Kenny and Kyle Burkholder.

Next week is the first Shootout with Dog Hollow Speedway for the Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models. The Jack’s Recycling Super Late Models, Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds, Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks and TC Race Car Parts Chargers will also be on the card. Grandstand gates open at 5PM with the Pits at 4:30PM. Racing starts promptly at 7PM.
