May 15 2010 - Jackson & Walters First Time Winners At Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex

MARKLEYSBURG, PA (May 15, 2010) – Two drivers produced their first-ever feature win at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex Saturday night. Keith Jackson picked up a last lap win in the Jack’s Recycling Super Late Models while Jerry Walters Jr. won his first-ever in the TC Race Cars Parts Chargers. Repeat winners were Vic Vandergrift in the Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds and Todd Dennis grabbed the Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature. Rick Strickler won the Dog Hollow-Roaring Knob Shootout for the Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models sponsored by Cresap Automotive Machine of Cumberland, MD.

Uniontown’s Jerry Walters Jr. led all 12 laps to secure his career first win in the TC Race Cars Parts Chargers feature. Walters was hounded by JT Baird for the first eight laps before pulling away to earn the win. Baird held off strong challenges from Marty Spade, Jr. and Kenny Burkholder to earn second. Brad Jenkins rounded out the top five. Justin Howell, Ross Higbee, Bus Matthews, Donnie Walters and David Wallace were sixth through tenth. Spade and Burkholder were the heat winners.

Vic Vandergrift, in his Hassey Chassis, took advantage of his outside front row starting spot to lead all 15-laps of the Melvin’s Automatic Transmission Service Modified feature. A late race caution put Deana Groves on his back bumper but the
Fairmont, WV driver was able to hold Deana off to score his second win of the season. Groves, Nolan Dalton, Dennis Perigo, Bobby Bennett, Nick Cramer, Bruce Dreistadt, Josh Cramer, Louie Krushansky and Nathan Baker finished out the top ten. Groves and Vandergrift won the heats.

An invert three put John Over and Rick Strickler on the front row of the 20-lap Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Model feature. After three tries Over took the initial lead. Over looked fast and pulled away until he pushed up in turn two on a restart and Strickler made his move. Strickler took off and held on through two more restarts to earn his second win of the season. Garry Sisson came from sixth to take second over Dusty Hamrick (from 12th), Cody Hardesty (from 11th) and John Over. Kirby Tucker (from 19th), Jayme Beck, Greg Tressler, Russell Baird, Jr. and Billy Stile III completed the top ten. Ray Johnson, Strickler and Over grabbed the heat wins.

The Jack’s Recycling Super Late Model feature was a dandy. Billy Holbert took the lead at the drop of the green. Holbert had a big lead when the car came to a sudden stop on lap seven. This handed the lead over to Tim Senic. Senic seemed to have things in control, pulling out to a quarter lap lead until a caution came out on lap 17. This put
Odenton, MD’s Keith Jackson on his rear bumper. On the restart Jackson was able to stay with Senic. On the final lap Senic started to spin coming out of turn four on his own as Jackson was making his move on the outside. Senic spun up into Jackson’s path, who clipped his quarter panel. Jackson
came across the line for his first-ever win at Roaring Knob. Bob Gordon was second over LC Powers, Jeff Ferguson, Mel Minnick, Jr., Larry Baker, Danny Pugh, Tim Senic, Bob Hershman and Mark Booth. Minnick and Jackson won the two heats.

In the final feature of the night Todd Dennis won his second 15-lap Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock feature of the season. Dennis led from lap one but not without some heavy pressure from last week’s winner Jim Bendishaw Jr. Third through tenth went to Bob Nelson, John Redshaw, Jim Byers, Josh Bendishaw, Chris Lucy, Randy Bohan, Russell Baird Sr. and Joe Wrona. Heat winners were Tom Newman and Charlie McClain.
