MARKLEYSBURG, PA (July 10, 2010) - Twin 15 lap feature for the Melvin's Automatic Transmission Center Modifieds highlighted the nights racing. Nolan Dalton and Shawn Davis split the wins. Keith Jackson (Jack's Recycling Super Late Models), Todd Dennis (Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stocks), Marty Spade, Jr. (TC Race Car Parts Chargers) and John Over (Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Models) were all repeat winners on Garry Auto Sales Autograph Night.
Morgantown, WV's Nolan Dalton took the led from the start and had his hands full with Vic Vandergrift all 15-laps of the first Melvin's Automatic Transmission Center Modified Feature. Dalton's win was his first of the season and fifth career win at the Knob. Vandergrift came home second over Shawn Davis, Louie Krushansky, Dennis Perigo, Nick Cramer, Josh Cramer, Bobby Bennett, Larry Atha and Robert Staats. Heat wins went to Dalton and Krushansky.
John Redshaw took the initial lead as the field took the green in the 15-lap Bobby Lake Motorsports Street Stock A-Main. Redshaw pulled away from Jim Byers and led the first nine laps. Todd Dennis started eighth and took over second on lap five. Dennis was glued to the rear bumper of the #62 of Redshaw. A restart on lap nine saw Dennis power into the lead and go uncontested the final six laps for his fifth win of the year. Redshaw claimed second followed by Jim Bendishaw, Jr., Jim Byers, Bob Nelson, Mike Duritsky, Scott Spade, Marshall Coleman, Barry Faris and Chris Lucy. Dennis and Duritsky were the heat winners.
Keith Jackson's becoming the driver to beat in the Jack's Recycling Super Late Models. The start saw Jim Kutas take the lead, just like last week, battling with Mel Minnick, Jr. Jackson quickly worked his way to front joining the front pair to make it a three way battle for the lead. Lap 14 saw Jackson go from third to first. Jackson then drove off leaving the field on his was to his second straight win. Minnick took second followed by Doug Horton, Kutas, Bob Gordon (from 11th), Mason Zeigler, Jeff Ferguson, Bob Hershman, Donnie Dotson and Brandon Delano. Minnick and Kutas were the heat winners.
Jayme Beck jumped into the lead at the start of the Brooks Automotive Group FASTRAK Late Model feature. Beck was fast as she led the first eight laps before John Over blew by for the lead on lap nine. A lap later Troy Shields moved into second but had nothing for Over. Numerous cautions saw the race only go 16 laps as the time limit had expired. Shields settled for second with Rick Strickler, Billy Stile, III, Derek Doll, Tim Snare, Jr., Ray Johnson, Bobby Cossell, Greg Tressler and Ricky Meglaye your top ten. Heat for the 26 car field went to Shields, Strickler and Meglaye.
Three different drivers took a shot at leading the TC Race Car Parts Charger feature. Kenny Burkholder was first as he led the first three before Shawn Smith took over on lap four. Smith looked like he was going for his first win this season when he slowed suddenly on lap nine. This handed the lead over to Marty Spade, Jr., who went on for his third straight victory and fifth of the season. Kenny Burkholder was second with brother Kyle taking third. Brad Jenkins, Jerry Walters, Jr., JT Baird, Joey Tomasek, CJ Nicola, Donnie Walters and Bus Matthews completed the top ten. Heats were won by Spade and Kenny Burkholder.
The final event of the night was the second 15-lap feature for the Melvin's Automatic Transmission Service Modifieds. Shawn Davis went green to checker to claim his first win this season. Nolan Dalton came from seventh to make a run on the final lap. Dalton took second followed by Vic Vandergrift, Nick Cramer, Dennis Perigo, Deana Groves, Josh Cramer, Bobby Bennett, Nathan Baker and Robert Staats.
